Lon,

I can't believe you are being so nice as to not insult me, it must be the season Wink Anyways, I have to agree with you my friend, it was definatley worth the drive even with last years rain! So far I have been able to make this an anual event and I will try my best to keep this going. As far as people go,the Y group is the best and I have to admit I would not have had as much fun as I have had if it were not for the "Aussies" in attendance! BigGrin There, I admitted it, now don't hold it agaist me Tongue

Rob

I love the smell of burning rubber in the morning!

Tom,  I have been lucky enough to attend the Y Block Shoutout for the last 3 years .It cost me a few $ to Fly /Drive the 9000 odd mile from Australia .It was worth every cent .The best part about the whole event is the "Family Reunion " Y-BLOCKS FOREVER is the best "Club "you could ever be a member of . There's NO President .There's NO secretary. No fees, monthly meetings & no "Show Judges " to tell you "You have the incorrect paint color on your dipstick  or radio knob ??? .

Bob Martin is the "Godfather of Columbus " It would be hard to imagine the event without him.Even if you don't want to race, there is so much to do.. When you have the likes of Wally,Ted,Harry,Ernie,Jim,Jerry,Doug,Chuck,David,Kevin,"Pegleg ",Robin,Frank,Gary, Bill,Bob ,Royce & Barb ,ETC,ETC ETC to talk  and listen  to ?? The weekend is way too short . A finer bunch of people you will never meet .(And I never said a bad word about our "cousins " from North of the Border ??)Some of the gang have even been know to stretch truth a little ,just to make the stories sound more interesting ??

Columbus OH, is truely an event not to be missed .

Maybe the thing to do is to get together with the CVA (54-56 Fords) in their regional meets. We have something in common (Y Blocks beside 54-56 Fords) and maybe they would be amienable to let other years Y Blocks in as part of the meeting.

Certainly have heard of Columbus and would love to go but work is not that forgiving.

Was thinking more local stuff scattered all over the country.  The inline site showed gatherings in different locales.  Waco is about 2 hrs from Dallas, Houston and Austin and only 3 from San Antonio.  Heck in New England, that covers 4-5 states.

My preference would be something not too organized.  Have belonged to lots of different things over the years (most not car related), quickly dropped out of the ones that were more interested in passing by laws rules.  Just a gathering (reunion?) 2-4 times a year.  In Texas could be Dallas, Houston and San  Antone.

Went to round up in Austin once before I moved here.  Don't know the rules.  Think it is limited to X number of cars.  If could get a section for Y's  ???  Saw a self described rat rod from out of state w/ a Y, an F Code from Amarillo, and several others.

Again, just thinking out loud.

Tom,

Labor day weekend, Columbus ohio. Ford Expo. Had about 30 cars and 45/50 people there last year. Folks attended from Canada, Australia, Illinois, Missouri, Oregon, Texas, Ohio, New York, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere. It is NOT a requirement that you race, although  I can't see why you wouldn't. There is also a car show and swap meet included and the Mustang Racers are busy destroying various type of Ford all over the place. We have meals and bench racing together, and a generally enjoyable time. Happens every year, come on down.Hehe

Happy New Year to all.  Hope everyone had a safe and merry Christmas.

Found this searching for parts for son's '55 chebby and backed up to the main sight.

I get a lot from the several Y specific discussion groups on line but think a social get together every now and then would be great.  Interest in the Y is growing but seems we are seperated into factions.  Too small for that.  Original only, trucks, racers, drivers (what I call bug killers), and those that have Ys but just don't do anything Y specific.

Only thing Y specific I know of in Texas is Birdsapaloosa.  Pretty well central location to population centers.  Viewed as for racers only.  For non racers, it could still be a venue for a 1st get together and start the discussion for other gatherings or locations.  Only problem that has limited me is it has been on Mother's Day weekend the last few years.

When lived real close to Shreveport, LA wemt to an all Ford gathering.  Several Ys were there (little Birds, couple of retractables, a PU, a 59 Galaxie and my Vicky).  Someone was gathering contact info and talking about bunching together the next year.  Did not hear anything else.

Guess this is thinking out loud in the cyber world.
