Hi Reed,

It was good meeting you down there and at the Nats. Try Bumper Boys or Boyz, I cant remember which way it is spelled but I have had a couple buddies bring bumpers with them to the Carlisle PA swap meet and exchange them there. I think Bumper Boys is out of Cal but they have bumpers already replated and all you do is swap for a fee, no turnaround time involved and they were pretty reasonably priced.

From what I hear, '64 rear bumpers were very bad about rusting out, so if yours isn't rusted through, your best bet bet is to have yours re-chromed. Some bumper shops will not sell you a '64 rear bumper if you don't have a platable core. Search for "Galaxie Club of America", they have a good website with classifieds.

John, thanks for the input...I have checked with several bumper shops and you are correct on the cores...mine is rusty in one bad spot, but I can fix it. I might just make a "project" out of the bumper....it cant get any worse Hehe

on that note, is there a good reputable "chrome" shop any of you know of?

Nice looking 4 door Galaxie. Nice Color combination!  I have owned a few galaxies in the past so I will look thru my parts corner of my garage when I get a path to it- Got about 3 ft of snow here already-Adirondacks of NY.   I presently own a 64 xl convertible.    They had different mirrors for these cars-the round fluted ones & a rectanglular one with a remote lever to adjust it.  I may have a couple of fluted ones.

As for bumpers try Ford Galaxie Club of America as last post stated. There was someone there that was selling replated ones, if I remember right it was in Arkansas.  As for that dash trim it is very hard to come by. If a good piece comes on Ebay-lots of bidding. You might be better to check your local Junkyards.

For new, nos, & repro parts check out Dennis Carpenter & Greg Donahue who specializes in just 63 & 64 Fords.   Good luck!!

Love them Galaxies as Y-blocks Too!  Take good care of her!  I will let you know what I find. Shoot me your Email address

Try Hemmings motor news, EBay. Also do a Google search for 64 parts. Craigs list .

Hey guys,

I have a new project in my possession...a 1964 Galaxie 500. I know...no Y Block, but my dad keeps telling me we can put in one of his spares! w00t

I have been looking for a "different" daily driver for a while, just something a little more unique then my Danger Ranger!!!...and the best part is I traded a T-5 transmission for it, so I am in it pretty cheap.

I have added the wheels and a couple of other things...but I need a little help finding the following...

Front and rear bumpers...especially the rear

front door entry "scuff plates"

Round side view mirrors (somebody put some off an 84 LTD I think......)

left front body side molding (goes on the front fender only)

The center dash trim...somebody cut the dash all up for a radio...I need some trim!

I know there are a few places to get the parts "new"...but maybe you guys might know where a parts car might be??? I am not looking for perfect...just a little better than what I have!

Thanks!

reed
