One piece retainers supplied with Verne Schumann's "police upgrade kit" (which includes heavier springs) same OD as stock 2-piece, and will still fit the "X" adapter foot.

If you have performance heavier valve springs (ie) 95# or 105# the Gapper will not work on them as the performance spring OD is larger than the stock 65# valve spring, do not mean wire size. Also the performance one piece spring retainers are larger OD than the stock 2 piece spring retainers. The gappers horseshoe clips are too small to seat properly over these performance retainers and springs.

Hey Joe, thanks for the update. It's good to know I can expand my search range for the P&G Valve Gapper maybe this way I can find one less costly and easier. still using the old fashion feeler gauge method.

I cleaned and oiled all the parts and it appears that the #2 barrel and the H base will work to adjust the lifters with the engine not running. The H base fits solidly over the valve spring retainer but has little surface area to sit on and I'm unsure how solid it would be at idle. A bit of lathe work will make these mating surfaces wider and should work with the engine running. I set it on a spare head to see how it works and compare to the pictures. Looks like an easy tool to use and since I adjusted my lifters a few weeks ago, I will have to try it and compare my results. Thanks again for the help. J
