Here ya go http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic15164-4-1.aspx

and here's a link to some pics http://s121.photobucket.com/albums/o214/cmccraney/F100/Tremec%20T5%20Z/

Use the search feature of the forum to find other topics about the T5.

You don't want the truck 4 speed unless you will do some towing.  It's a granny 1st gear.

I was thinking about a T5 but I want to know what I am getting myself into before I start...  I am able to find a piece here and a piece there about this setup but I need an informal "how to".

Trust me, it has crossed my mind to put a 4 speed truck transmission behind it but I might be happier in the long run with a T5...

You shouldn't need a car bellhousing to put a manual tranny in your truck.  Trucks came with 3 and 4 speeds.  T5 5 speeds are an easy install, using a modified truck bellhousing.  You will not need to do anything about mounts with the truck bell.  No holes need to be drilled if using a stock transmission.  A small modification to the input shaft may be necessary for non stock transmissions.  The drive shaft length will probably have to be altered.  What transmission do you have in mind?

I have a 1956 F100. I need to know which bell housing I need to adapt a late model tranny.  I know I need a car bell housing but which one?  How about a part number?  I am guessing I will have to fab up some motor mounts or do you know of any that I can buy and weld on?  I am still thinking about a tranny (I have replied to a post on this site but my topic search in my profile does not work for some reason).  I have also heard it is necessary to drill a hole in order for most Y blocks to accept a manual tranny?  What are people doing for driveshafts?  Any info is appreciated.  Thank you.
