Hello Nat. You might find a fitting that would would work at your local Parts Source store.You know the Can Tire owned automotive supply.My local one here has a terrific selection of fittings.

I'm not clear on the question about the banjo fitting. But the nipple should work in any direction. You shouldn't have to line anything up. The elbows usually have a good bit of meat in them. Can you grind the clearance you need out of the fitting? Go to a good hardware store or autoparts store and see if you can find a shorter elbow. We're not talking Lowes or Autozone for this. More like the rare mom-and-pop variety. Another idea. Since the stock air cleaner is pretty large and hides much of the carb, you can use a short length of hose to connect the stock fuel line to the banjo. With the air cleaner in place it should be very difficult, if not impossible to notice.

First of all thanks for all the input. In a nut shell the Banjo fitting is the ideal width. If the Bango fitting had a female threaded end for the gas line that would be ideal.
Right now the Banjo has a tube to accept a rubber hose. On my 4150 Carb, I had 90˚ brass elbow that comes out of the carb and then couples to my fuel line. The 90˚ elbow is kind of a chunky block and it is a bit too wide to clear the air cleaner. The reason being is the new 4160 carb fuel inlet area is wider than my 4150. An easy fix would be a rubber fuel hose, but I would like to keep it stock looking. A simple solution would be a fuel line that has a Banjo connection on one end and a threaded male coupling into the glass fuel bowl. I have looked on the internet but have not found anything like that. A tiny 90˚ elbow may also work. On another note, when using the Banjo fitting, is the fuel tube and the drilled hole supposed to line up? AZ28 the stock connection is a 90˚ elbow and then pointed down at about 45˚ to meet up with the fuel line. The fuel line is very close the the carb so it clears the stock air cleaner. With your set-up the fuel line is much further away from the carb and would not work.
Are the fuel line connections specific to automotive or possibly go to a plumbing outlet?

This is what you are talking about - right? Adapter fitting has straight threads into the Holley bowl - then female 5/16 inverted flare. It has a Holley part number but ......... 
The AC filter just fits into the same place as the glass bowl version.

Holley may have something. What I have seen is a fitting (inverted flare) that screws into the carb (you remove the banjo). The problem? is that it points to the side, not to the front. The Tbird parts guys have it, it's to make a later Holley carb fuel inlet to fit under a stock 57 air cleaner.

My 4160 came off an OMC 460 V-8(stern drive) The fuel line from the engine mounted filter to the carb was stainless steel. (I still have not decided if I am even going to use it.....) The fuel fitting at the carb is an inverted flare fitting. I'm not looking at it right now but I think the fitting is screwed directly into the carb casting.....I think it's a fuel screen fitting etc...... You would probably have to get a different fitting directly from Holley. I'll bet they have something that will fit. I don't have a quick fix for your fuel fitting sizes - but I have had pretty good luck at forming 3/16 brake tubing to replace the vacuum tubes. By using a bender to get smooth corners and a short rubber tube connection on each end - it can come out looking pretty clean. On second thought - I believe I have seen the exact fuel line set-up you want, sold as a bolt-on assembly from "Larry's" Thunderbird parts and others. Ask them about P/N t 9520 - I think it attaches directly to a Holley 4160 style bowl and has a steel line formed to fit over to the glass bowl style of filter.
