HIPERFORMER.COM

I've asked before "i think". but i'll try one more time....Has anyone ever used this company. They seem legit, have been around roughly 50 years, build 5000 plus motors a year, and have a 7yr/100k mile (was told by them 70k mile) warranty. Of course this is what I've read from them. I've been given a quote of $2150 give or take $100 dependant on wether i send in my engine or they just use whichever one they have lying around.

I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING NEGATIVE!!!

What does everyone think?

If yes do it, should I send in my Y-block, it's a 292 with ECZ-G heads, maybe they won't send me one with the heads I want, so I shoudl send mine?

If no,why not?

ALL help and opinions is greatly appreciated. And if anyone has any stories about this company do tell.

Apache,  As person who has researched this recenlty and in my opinion with great detail my advice is to walk before you run.  This company seems a bit like a cookie cutter engine company.  Are the fimiliar with the Y?  What block work are they doing? Sonic testing, boring, resurfacing, magnufluxing, checking/ boring main line???  What about the heads? mag, new valve seats, guides, resurfacing, bigger valves, new springs???   I got a quote from a highly regarded local shop for $2100.  I finally decided to go with somone who knows Y blocks and will build me a better engine with more bells and wistles.  It will cost me more but in the long run I will be happier.  Bing

the guy i talked to seem perdy knopwledgable, with things liek using 312 pistons in a 292 etc etc..It's basically a stock rebuild with a cam upgrade, sonic testing boring surafcing magnufluxing is all check check and check...I;m thinkin of sendin mine to them and let them rebuild it..i like the sound of a 7/70 warranty..lol..it's basically everything wil be new on the rebuild but block and heads themselves

I used a reputable engine place about 5 years ago.  Like this one they do any and all engines - Hyundai to Toyota, SBC, MOPAR, etc.  Replaced the engine a few years later - too many short cuts.

Below is a quote from Hi Performance's home page:

We value our contacts. We firmly believe in collaborative,  expansive networking and global sourcing for quality custom, OEM reliable, affordable products and services that meet and exceed consumer expectations.

Emphasis mine to high light that they are telling you they will use Chinese parts when they can.  Having 30+ years experience in procurement and most recently with a global high tech firm and doing a LOT of global sourcing, this is a danger signal to me.  Would love to sell them a core block for $300, tho.

You gotta have the right tools and know how to use 'em.

Has anyone ever used this company.....build 5000 plus motors a year....

I trust this is a misprint?  5000 engines a year is 14+ engines a day and that’s working weekends.  And at this point, I’d even question 500 engines a year.  5000 engines over a fifty year span sounds more reasonable for a single well equipped and staffed shop.

When given equal choices, always go local as any problems that surface after the fact are much easier to have taken care of.  And the old adage “you get what you pay for” still fits for many rebuilds.
