My birthday was Feb 1956 and for my 50th birthday I bought myself-you guessed it a 1956 Ford Fairlane. The car is still older than me being built in Nov.55.Thats OK though because I have always had a "thing" for older good looking ladies. The last old Ford I had was a 53 Meteor that I bought on April fools day 1975.Sold it in 87 and just got back into this when I got the 56.I spent 10 years on the Ford parts counter when I was younger and never once heard of a Y-block-of course that was a good 15 years after they were last used.Thats my story and I'm stickin' to it.By the way this site is terrific and its the people that make it that way!

I'm 50 and bought my first car at age of 16 (Desoto Panel Wagon 1959). First Y-Block studies were in early '70's with my friends '56 Mercury 312 and '57 Ford 292. Still got my first own Y-Block car '57 Country Sedan which I bought 1980.

I'll be 56 in a week or so. family car was a 53 ford wagon with a flatty. then dad bought a 56 customline 4 dr and man did I love the sound of that y with "hollywoods"! I bought a 54 ford ragtop in 69 for $20,and a hurst mystery shifter for another $15.spent a lot of time terrorizing main street with my duel straight pipes! only wished I knew some of you older guys then. it was a learning process with my 4 brothers and I with making those fords run against the scrub lovers.

Although I fell in love with the sound of Y's when they first came out, the first one that I drove was an extremely wild(for the day) 6 carb monster in a super mod in 1959.After that I owned several 56,57and 58 Ford cars.I and a friend of mine have 9 of them now.I still love the sound of these things!!!!!! Oh,and I was born 12 years before the Y.

I was born April '64, learned to drive a manual trans. in a '64 F-100 with a 292 four speed "granny" when I was 12, bought "my" first F-100 (1960 223 with three on the tree, it was only 20 years old for $500) on my sixteenth birthday on my way home from the DMV with my new ticket in hand. If you found gas for $.99 a gallon you were lucky and I made $5 an hour working on my Uncles ranch (minimum was $3.10) I saw Shirley Muldowney race Don Garlits in a grudge match at Famoso in '83 and remember everyone Booooo-ing her. Fastest times then were around 250mph @ 5sec.

I'll be 66 in August. Dad bought a new 55 F100 that I cut my teeth on at age 12. It looked just like Dennis Leeking's (hi, Dennis). I put about a million miles on it in the driveway. I've been driving em' since 1955, but I bought my first Y-Block 57 Ford pickup in 1961, haven't been without one since. Racing rookie at 64. Have a 10 year plan for a red hat. You won't get rid of me any time soon.
