I had this post over on the classifieds but didn't get any responses so I am posting it here, it appears that more people read this forum than the others.

I have searched for a heater control valve for a 57 F100 through several different sources, Macs, Dennis Carpenter, NPD and am coming up empty handed in my search for a heater control valve, the one that mounts on the inner fender.

Does anybody know a source of where I may be able to find one? Used would do as long as it doesn't leak.

NAPA has a rebuild kit for the auto ones, I don't know if it would work in a truck but the top of the truck control valve is all riveted on, I would need to drill rivets out and replace. It appears to be a lot of work for a leaky grommet around the shaft which is maybe 3/16" diameter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Howdy,

There's several types of heater control valves that will work.

I got one like the following at Rock Auto for a 70's F-250:

Just about anything will work well.

Regards,

Rick

Y-Guy Billy:       This may not work, if you're trying to keep it original,  my

grandfather used a regular "ball valve", from the plumber  shelf,

at the local hdw store. He just screwed in the short pipe nipples

into each side, and slipped the heater hoses on those! You did have

raise the hood to twist in on/off, but it worked fine.

That one I showed above is a (plastic) ball valve.

You're right though, it would not be "original" but it would be close enough and would interface easily to the current push-pull cable

Billy ,

Time to hit the wrecking yards . Mid 60's to mid 70's Fords,Mustangs ,Falcons ,Comets, all shapes & sizes .I'm sure you will find something that is very close to original .If anyone asks if it is stock  ?? Do what I do . Tell them it was a factory option .I've even used a few non Ford items .It really annoys me when someone tries to tell you "That's the wrong bolt " Who cares ????.It's yours .

Regards Lon

Yes, I understand there are several that will work, my brother has a spare one from a 69 F100 that would work, I was just trying to find an original style.

I am in the middle of China at the moment, so I will look further when I get home.
