 I seem to recall John Mummert saying the Weiand tri power is "very similar" to the big Edelbrock, so it might flow a little better then some of the others.

Okay so I have one ECG 1 1/16 with an automatic choke and one that says EBV 1 with a manual choke. The ECG is the one I want to run in the center and find one that matches the EBV? Will it have to have the EBV designation or will another casting number be physically the same? Am I one the right track here? thanks-

Another option is using 2GC Rochesters. You will need a 3 to 4 bolt adapter to use these. They probably are a better carb to use, but I never had any experience with them.

The Rochester 2G is a very good carb, although it looks totally wrong on a Y or any other Ford in my opinion. Tongue

Yes - there are a lot of different 94 carbs. If you use the pre 49 carbs (Model 59 and others) you don't have to deal with the vacuum port in the back that the post 48 carbs have. However, these can be plugged with set screws.



Probably the easiest ones to find, and probably the cheapest, are the 8BA carbs that came on 49-51 Fords. The "E" series 94's are all post 51. ECG are 55 and 56, the ECG 6 is the biggest of the 94 series and is an automatic choke carb.



Then there is the 2110, not sure technically a 94 but are pretty much the same except for venturi and throttle bore sizes (bigger). But these are pretty hard to find and are usually a lot more expensive than the ECG or 8BA.





Like PCMenten, the 2110 carb is the best for the center, possibly 95's or 8BA's for the ends. The ECG would make a good center carb.



Over the years, a lot these carbs have been modified with bits and pieces of other carbs and won't necessarily match as far as the innards go because most everything is interchangable. You should make the end carbs as similar as possible.



One of the best sources of parts for these carbs is Vintage Speed, although the owner is a sob to deal with. You can easily order parts over the internet. The parts and service (shipping) is good with Vintage Speed, just don't expect to get any info out of the guy that owns the place.



Another source of parts (but not as extensive) is a guy that rebuilds 94's for a living - Ken's Carbs 203-375-9340. I get most of the run of the mill parts from him.



I run a 573 manifold with 8BA's on the end, and the equivilent of a 2110 in the center. Be warned - a triple carb setup with these carbs can be a bear to keep in tune.

Ron, I scrounged matching truck 94's for the end carbs. I think they have a designation of 7R or similar. They have flared inlets and I thought that would be cooler.



But your question is a good one. I think the 94 stands for .94 as in 15/16" which was the bore size. I mention that because other Holley 3 bolt, 2 barrel carbs come in sizes like 1", 1 1/16", etc.



I'd use a 2110 like the ECG on the center carb, and some matched 94's for the end carbs.

When I started looking around for some Holley 94 carbs on eBay today I quickly learned that there are many different models.  In just a couple minutes of surfing I found 94s with model designations of: ECG, 8BA, EBU, EB and 59.  And something tells me there are even more models lurking around out there.  So the question is, what model/s should I be looking for?  And should I narrow my search to 94s with the Ford logo on the side?  Thanks again for the helpful info.  This is an incredible forum!  Ron

As has been discussed before on this site, for pure performance a good 4 barrel will outperform the most desireable 3-2 setup, but there's nothing like the "WOW" factor of the 3-2s.  And they can be made to run smoothly and reliably.  Fuel mileage is good if you can keep your foot out of them also.  HeHe.

My 312 has the larger heads and I'm using a '57 distributor, so from what all of you have said it looks like the best setup for me will be the Edelbrock 573 and the Holley 94 carbs.  Now the fun part--find them!  Thanks for all the great input!  Ron
