So funny, I understand. I have subscribed to Y Block Magazine and have my first subscription as of January. When I was young and inexperienced, I restored a 58 ford pickup and installed a 327 in it. I always regretted it and wished I would have kept it Ford. I have since started restoration of a 56 Ford F-100 with a 351 Windsor. When I came across my second project truck, another 56 Ford F-100, I became acquainted with this engine called the "Y Block". Its a 256 from a 54 Merc. I had hoped it was a 292 and after talking to the guys here, was convinced to let the 256 live the rest of its natural life in my 56. When and if time allows, I would like to acquire a 292 to bolt to an engine stand and make that a sperate project engine to sometime be installed in my 56. Thanks for all the information on the definition of a "scrub". At least now I understand what all of you at talking about when you make reference to "scrub". I have to admit I am fasinated by the Y and the crowd who supports them.

Darrell, Scrub was a moniker coined by Jerry Christianson. Jerry has a header company, in Minnesota, called "Yestertech". He also races a 9 second blown, or ten second unblown, Thunderbird known as the Blackbird. If you subscribe to the Y-Block Magazine, as most of us do, Jerry writes a column which is always entertaining. He's not a GM fan.........at all.

Thanks, I suspected that but really was not sure. At least now if there is anyone else out there besides me who wondered that, we now have the answer!

Ok, I give up. At the risk of being barred from the site or being sent back to "Newbie Status", what is a scrub engine? Darrell Howard Whitefish, MT Outlaw56
