I have acquired a spare Fordomatic transmission. It is from a 56 312 and was in a Crown Victoria that came from California. I looked in my shop manual on CD and can't find the exact ID. I don't have it home yet, but I took a couple of pictures of it. There is some glare in the picture of the ID plate, but I believe it reads PAW-7003-A and has a serial number, 56-60533. stamped on the ID tag. My shop manual CD lists PAW-B, C, E, &-F. It looks like the PAW-B,and E are for police interceptor or station wagon applications and the PAW-C and F are for T-Bird applications. It says the PAW-B & C have aluminum impellers and the -E & F have steel impellers. The manual also lists a PAR-G for all other 312 4V 56 applications. Does anyone know what the PAW-A signifies? If this is the original transmission, I guess it is one of the heavier duty transmissions put in the 56 Crown Vic. The transmission was rebuilt and ran fine in the car, but leaked. The car was converted to stick OD. I tried to attach a picture, but cannot find "browse" or place to attach. I will post this and try to add a picture later.
