I think I misunderstood, I thought that was a different forum that was still up. No problem! Ted (5/13/2009)

There was plenty of discussion about this on the old forum. Ted, can you post the link to the "old forum" so I can read it? Thanks, Rick Sorry Rick. Access to the old site was lost when this newer site was forced to do an emergency move to a different server.

I've been happy with my Bendtsens adapter. The solenoid did fail in one season and I had to replace it. The starter is a Mitsubishi made for Scrubs. Supposedly many of the high torque starters from the big speed shops will work but I didn't check the bolt patterns to be sure. Biggest part for me was making a new tailshaft mount and drive shaft. I used a Lokar shift cable to my existing shifter. It works about 95%. I still need to do some grinding to get all the way into 1st. Chuck in NH
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

There's a guy here in Tallahassee that is putting an AOD in his Customline Victoria, like mine, I'll let you know what he did when he gets it done.

Unibodyguy, have you thought the Bristol Service method? It uses ford-o-matic bellhousing and ford-o-matic truck bellhousing might be possible to use.

I would really like to put one in my 57 F100. But being a truck and the mounting tabs/ears on the the truck set up, was wondering if anybody knew of a "truck" set up. I sure like th idea though of the 2000 rpm @ 70 mph. Michael

Thank you for all the responses. Already had an unpleasant experience with the Bendtsens adapter and it’s out of the question. The supplied starter was also an issue but Bob Bendtsen is still free to call and clear the air. There was plenty of discussion about this on the old forum. At this point, I am looking specifically for an adapter that will bolt up the Ford AOD to the Y without any bellhousing modifications while minimizing the backwards spacing of the transmission. I was really curious if there is anyone using the adapter that may have been produced by Hollywood Automotive located in Missouri. One of these was on display at Columbus a few years back and used a modified SBF flywheel in conjunction with an unmodified SBF starter.

LordMrFord (5/9/2009) My Bendsen's adapter had few problems.
Flywheel's teeth was not tapered and starter's outer bearing rusted out after winter.
Starter's max 120 rpm is quite low too.Well, the "flywheel" is just a standard FORD OEM flexplate. (My torque converter is for a 300cu-in 6cyl truck engine) I haven't tried spinning my engine with the starter yet......it's an after market geared starter for some import engine I think. Does it not turn fast enough to start a "Y" reliably? A well tuned "Y" with good compression and ignition will usually start on the first turn.... My Y is not well tuned...yet.
