I know that gas tanks for the 55 and 56 Ford full size cars and T-Birds are available from a number of sources...Anybody know where a tank for a 55 Ford Wagon can be obtained?  I could always clean and repair the existing tank but after seeing the condition of the original tank in my 55 Fairlane a few years back I'd prefer to go new for my Ranch Wagon project.  Any help appreciated.

Best,

If you go with a gas tank sealer, beware of the consequences. I bought a kit from Eastwood Co. and followed instructions to the tee. The biggest problem with a sealer is the area around the pickup and in the pickup tube. I had great luck with the coated tank UNTIL I used Texaco gas that used the additive they called "clean system 3" which keeps your system cleaned of deposits in your fuel injectors and under the intake valves. Chevron now calls this Techron and Shell calls it V-power. It did the trick of cleaning the system out including the membrane that was coating the tank. I was driving to a show and this Eastwood stuff started to break loose and got in my fuel filter and plugged it up solid. I cleaned the filter out on the side of the road and went another 20 miles and plugged up again etc, etc.  I finally ordered me a new tank for my 55 Bird and learned the hard way ther ain't no subtitute for NEW.  Good luck on your hunt for a new tank.     Bud
