My '56 does the same thing .. I just roll it onto the highway and get that first stop over with. Good for the rest of the day. I don't see any signs of leaking fluid though. I do have different springs from the left to right. Need to fix that .. but stops fine after that first one..

Gordie: I would look for a restricted brake hose or sticky wheel cylinder on the RIGHT side, or a leaky wheel cylinder getting fluid on the shoes on the left side.

There is probably a simple answer to this but why do my '58 Fairlane brakes pull hard to the left only the first time after I drive it after a few days or so? After the first exciting stop, it stops in a perfect line the rest of the day.
