Just received a call last weekend from a mate ( Y-Block JIM )who is installing a 272/FMX into a 1954 4 door Woodie .Wagon came with 239 and auto trans . I convinced him( as motor & box are stuffed ) to go with the FMX .I told him what he would need to do the conversion .Bought later model flexplate and had FMX snout turned down .Everything was bolted up and going fine . Cranked motor over and heard scraping noise .Turns out ,late model flexplate rubs on early bell housing ??? I gave /sold/traded him a late (1956 ) bellhousing ,problem solved ???? Has anyone else ran into this problem before ???? Measured up both bellhousings and found approx 3/16 difference . Lon
