what valve sizes do the C1TE-6080D-D heads have? these are on my 292 block,# C2AE-6015C. thanks for your help.

If no one has cut them for bigger valves they would be 1.64"

I need to know if I can cut these heads for the 1.9 valves? I have a valve grinder and seat grinder I can do it with myself. Or am I better off finding some bigger valve heads? will these heads even take the 1.9's?what about exhaust valves? thankyou for your help on this, been 40 years since we raced a 292 in our 1957 ford custom at the local 1/2 mile dirt track.

The biggest you can go is 1.78", I have done this on a number of occasions with good results. Even if you could fit the 1.92" intake the valve pocket would need a lot of opening up and then the valve would be shrouded by the combustion chamber. If you want bigger valves find a set of ECZ-G or 113 heads.

I once put 1.94 valves in C1TE heads and the intake valves hit the ground electrode of the extended tip spark plugs and closed the gaps. Had to run non-extended tip plugs. 1.600 exhaust valves are readily available for the Y (stock is 1.510), but I run re-grooved 429/460 valves in my race car. 1.65" diameter.

Thanks for the help guys. How do you re-groove a valve stem? How much can I cut off the head surface safely?

Lincoln: I regrooved my valve stems on my lathe. Gripped the valve head in the 3 jaw chuck, put a replacement bronze guide in my tailstock drill chuck, slid it onto the tip of the stem to act as a steadyrest, and cut the new groove in the appropriate place. It is closer to the stem tip than the original for a 429. This used to be a cheap way out, but now new 429 valves are about the same price as the 1.600 stainless now available. You can probably take .030 off the heads without further issues. More than that and you may need to mill the intake surfaces to get the manifold to fit properly.

Mummert advertises 1.84 stainless valves as a option for replacement in the late model small valve heads.
