Late last summer I posted about my 55 Victoria, 272. Whenever I'd take my foot off the gas then engine would die, like going around a curve on the highway, coming into a town, etc., as soon as I touched the petal it would refire and away I'd go. Lots of ideas tossed around and I probably tried them all. When I pulled out the Pertronix and replaced it with the points it would run ok but not up to par. That was dropping the timing from 20 to 12. I sent the Pertronix unit back, they notified me the unit was good but sent me a new one and to try it out. Well, a month or so ago I wrote how I found metering block on my 600 Holley totally junk, disintigrating at the slightest touch. Holley was notified, they said they've had that problem before, bad metalurgy, so they sent me a new carb. I put the Pertronix back on, new carb on and I've got the sweetest running and sounding Y-Block I've ever had. Something from that metering block must have held my power valve opened and when I took my foot off the gas, no air, it would flood out and die, open the throttle and away I'd go. So I guess after all this rambling on, it just to show, strange things happen, I'd never have thought something like that would happen, perseverence and frustration payed off, don't assume, check everything, & it will eventually work out.
