OK I just can't seem to find what I'd like to know anywhere, so I'll ask it here. I have-

1957 312 (pretty stock .030 over stock intake new edelbrock 600)

bought valley pan with pcv hole and installed 90* valve to vacuum port on carb.

My question is the motor never smoked before the pcv, now if I run it up pretty hard around 3500 - 4000 and shift it puffs blue smoke but only during the shift, the vacuum port and hose have oil residue inside. My dad has done alot of the parts running this spring cause I'm never home. I believe pcv valve is from 350 scrub and is new.

Do I have too much pcv pulling oil out of the valley pan? Does not do the smoke thing when I drive "nice"

Does the pan have a baffle? Is the run to 3500 - 4000 wide open or just rolling on the throttle?

Did you block off the road draft opening in the block when you installed the PCV?

Yes Valley pan has the square box spotwelded underneath where the pcv plugs in (baffle?)

the runs through the gears when it puffs are pretty hard runs, alot of throttle s'pose I could just not do that but it sounds so neat

Road draft tube has been removed and blocked off

Just trying to get a handle on this before I can do any true tuning on the new carb
