You guys are probably tired of the same old questions about putting tri-power on a Y-Block. I have looked through the different posts about this subject on this site so I think you guys are the ones that would know. I am new to this group and have had a 292 Y-Block in by 1964 Ford (Ranger) and would like to install a tri-power set-up on it. I just am not experienced with this type of set up. I have an Edelbrock 553 manifold with 3 Ford (Holley) 94's that were rebuilt by Vintage Speed in Florida. I have Eelco progressive linkage. I am having trouble hooking up the vacuum advance for my distributor and my PCV valve for the valley pan. I also have power disc brakes, so there is another need for a vacuum source for that.

If you can give me any suggestions on setting this rascal up or can point me to "Everything You Wanted to Know About Y-Block Tri-Power", I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Doug

mine has a port on the carb that I have the dizzy hooked up to. There is a port on the manifold of mine I installed a fitting and connected the vacuum brake booster to. Both seem to work fine.  I have a 573 intake

At the rear of the manifold where it's flat you could drill a 1/2" hole then tap and thread it,install a 1/2" brass "T" running one hose to brake booster and the other down to valley pan with a pvc check valve/grommet at back of valley pan. KID

I was under the impression that the older distributers could run off the vacuum port on the carb, but the newer ones (64) could not. Maybe I got that wrong. Do you have any close up pictures of your linkage set up. I am running a Cruise-O-Matic trans and linkage setup is spring loaded and I can't seem to get the other two carbs to engage. They seem to hang up which just allows the spring to stretch instead of pulling the other two carbs open.

Kidcourier,

I looked at that as a possibility but was not confident about doing that. Good idea though, I might try that.

MikeLongIsland,

I am not sure if a PCV valve is necessary except for smog control. My engine came with it and I have just kept.

Thanks for the info guys. Does anyone have any pictures of the linkage set up on this type of carb set?

Thanks again for the help,

Doug

Does anyone have any pictures of the linkage set up on this type of carb set?

Here are some links for past threads that may help with pictures of linkages.  Doing a search may net some others.
