I might add, I've talked to Holman-Moody they will still grind you a cam from yours. they have all the specs from back then. Lopey and ragged, good-bad! But you would have Holman-Moody braggin' rights if so inclined.

Kid: Holman-Moody did indeed make Y cams and kits. I have one of there fliers and price sheets they sent to Ford and L-M dealers. I bought one from my local L-M dealer. Was a 290 advertised duration that didn't produce enough vacuum to operate the wipers on my '56 Bird. Sold it to a guy who put in his Y powered Model A, he loved the sound. Had to run in 2nd gear in town with his 3 speed. No torque if he put it in high.

I also received that issue and was impressed with all the colored photos and a six page article.The wagon is just beautiful and I like the dead stock look with wide whites/full hubcaps with a wolfs drive train for the unwary! I have a friend who just installed a 345hp/350 crate motor in his '56 scrub wagon and I'd love to screw together a 348"/380-390hp- Y-block and blow his doors off and tell him he was beat by a vintage 292" Y-block,he'd be P&Moaning for months(LOL).I've been on this site for a couple of years now and that's the 1st time I've heard of a 1.65:1 ratio for valve train using .080" lash caps--anyone know how this is done and what parts you would use? And can you open up the head chambers to 61cc's and use scrub 2.02/1.60 valves without hitting the spark plug? Did Holman Moody make cams for the Y-block in the 50's? Would this be a streetable combo or a race engine? I'm learning about the Y-block as I read this forum,so more input please! KID

I just received my July 09 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine. There is an article on a really nice 57 Del Rio wagon with a built 348" 292. It's called the Battle Wagon, I wish he would bring it to Columbus. It is owned by Don Miller who owns the E Code Custon reatured a while back, and he has an F Code car too.
