Is there any reason you can't? You can get a new welder real cheap. Get one and some steel and practice!

Apache (6/28/2009) 20 k for a rat rod seems a lil steep no? lolBase kit is only 6K, no body but that give you the chance to make something different. You can still find old steel out there sometimes cheep.

Maybe not. They may not always look like much but there is still a lot of time involved building them. Plus it is a style which seems to be catching on so prices will increase. Next time you're at a show with rat rods, look beyond the rust and primer. There is often much innovation in those vehicles - things that if you cannot do them yourself, you will pay handsomely. Some of them are essentially the same quality as a big buck street rod. They just chose not to "finish" it.

You have got me looking at this kit very seriously, I think a Y would look great in one of those.
