It is to me.  But, that's my personal opinion.  I would have fun doing it, too.  Bottom line is, if you really enjoy '59 Ford Cars, do it.  If you're not passionate about this car, let someone else restore it, and get the car you really want.

Ever notice, when you go to different sites, the members don't all have '57 Chevy's?  Some have cars that I have taken for granted for many years, but these owners have personal reasons for their projects.  Maybe it's like the one dad had, or it's like their first car, etc.  They aren't doing it for investment.  To do it right costs way more than you will get by selling it when you're done.

I would take that engine out and do a major overhaul.  I don't care what condition it's in right now.  A fine classic Ford like that deserves to be restored.

That's my humble opinion.  You have a potentially great car that was made when my wife was born.  There are lots of replacement parts out there for it.

Royal Oak, Michigan (Four miles north of Detroit, and 12 miles NORTH of Windsor, Canada).  That's right, we're north of Canada.

Are those "real" wire wheels on there! If Original Ford they could be worth a pretty penny. That old 59 looks pretty good (at least the side we can see in the picture) If you like the style and want the car its worth it then. Some Marvel Mystery oil and patience  could get the old engine running again but a rebuild would be smart anyway. If your not into keeping it "numbers matching" any later FE will fit it too. By the way it would help if you mentioned where you are located. 40 years in a southwest garage is a lot different than the same 40 years in Wisconsin! Try adding your state and/or city to your tag line. Chuck in NH

If it is as good as it looks in the pictures, not all rusted out, I think 3k is OK.

I agree with the others comments. And If the mileage isn't to high, you might be able with some patience to get the engine running. Do the cylinders with penitrating oil etc. If the wires are restorable, they are worth a pretty penny to replace these days. You will need to get any gas out of it & have the tank cleaned also. I'm not a huge fan of 59s but that car is likely worth some effort. Done up they are quite handsome.

get those wire wheels cleaned up and rechrome the rusty one and you can sell them for about 2500.00 if they are original wires. Scarce and worth a bunch of money.   Reproductions are selling for 1500.00 and up so originals are out the roof. I have a friend who just paid 2800 for a set for his bird. So hang on to them or put them on the 59 that would ne nice.

Real wire wheels on a 59 Ford??? I thought the first year for factory real wire wheels (as opposed to the wire hubcaps) came on the 64?? TBirds.

If its got the good body you say, its certainly worth 3 grand. Engine can be gotten anywhere, good tin is what is hard to find.
