well i got my valve covers off today, first driver side.( i was hearing a valve ticking a bit loud at times) re-adjusted them... went to the passenger side and cylinder # 2 broken spring...good thing is it was just the spring, i will be putting in a cruise nite special cam and will be replacing the springs so no big deal..just wanted to know if i can run the new springs with my stock cam untill i get ahold of the new cam?

Sure.  I got a few questions about your current condition and future plans:

Were all the rocker arms getting oil?
Why was only one rocker out of adjustment?  Was the screw loose?

If you already have your new springs but aren't ready to tear into your engine:
Do you know, you can replace just the broken spring without removing your head?

Just to add what Dave said, if your new springs are somewhat stiffer than the originals, and the pushrods are the solid type, they are likely to bend.  Tubular pushrods should be used with stronger springs to prevent this.

Hey Dave answering your questions..

The rockers are all getting oil pretty good. the rocker wasnt out of adjustment what happend the spring broke. i thought it was gonna be out of adjustment but it wasnt and the noise was the broken spring.

I will be replacing the broken spring with a old spring for the meantime as i do not have the new springs yet...

I am not sure how much stiffer they will be but i do know they are diferent as i will be surely using the #105 springs from John M's website...I will look into the pushrods as well.. Thanks...
