Looking at the Ford Manual, it appears the bolts holding the gear assembly to the axel housing include lock washers, same for the yoke assembly to the gear assembly. Can anyone confirm this and also, lock or flat washers? Thanks in advance!

The washers on the 3rd member were copper flat washers, like brake hose washers.  I suppose to stop any possible leak.  The usually get lost over time.  The 9"s that I have use self locking nuts.  The washer under the pinion nut is a flat washer.  Some used lock washers under the pinion bearing flange, some did not.  Sealing is not a problem there.
