I had to remove the distributor in order to remove my plug wires so that I can measure them for a project I am working on. I reinstalled the distributor as it was removed, where I had it marked. Went to start. It wouldn't start. I saw that I left the coil high tension lead off. I put it back on. Went to start and POW, a big boom from the exhaust. Everything looked alright. Nothing was on fire and I'm still alive so I tried it again. It wasn't running right so I shut it down and investigated. I had #'s 5 and 6 plug wires reversed at the plugs. I set them right and started it. It ran fine. I checked my timing. It is good. Now I'm getting some popping out of the exhaust at a point a couple minutes into the warm up. It never did it before. It's running normally the rest of the time. What should I look at? What are some general reasons for the exhaust to pop?
