ok guys so i was cleaning up my engine i had the truck running making sure everything is ok no weird noises or nothing and when i went to look at the distributor i noticed the cap moves like as the rotor spines it makes the cap move side to side and up an down is that normal or is there something that is causing it to move please help guys im new to the y-block and wanna learn everything possible all my life iv always owned old trucks n old cars but iv always had straight six motors 202's 240's and 300's so im kinda getting the hang of it but there is still alot of new things for me thanx guys for any help

that doesnt sound right, make sure the rotor is all the way down in the distributor shaft.

If it aint broke, lets modify it!

It shouldn't move around while running.

Because of the way the cap is fastened, you can rotate it slightly.

As gentz says, recheck the rotor button fit as this is only moving thing in there that could influence the cap to move. regards aussiebill.
