I been considering on adding a electric cooling fan to a stock yblock with generator converted to 105 amp alternator. The griffin radiator suggests a 16 inch fan, shroud and the ability to circulate 2800-3000 cubic feet a minute. Looking for some input.

I refuse to use those 'stick-through' plastic things to mount an electric fan, so I made steel brackets that attach the fan to my four radiator bolts.

Many aftermarket fans butt right up against the radiator, so you really don't need a shroud (the fan housing IS the shroud).

I also used a 16" diameter, and glad I did.  The most airflow happens at the fan blade tips because they are at the highest velocity.

Now, I realize more HP because the fan doesn't run until it's needed.  No more worries about idling for extended lengths of time in stuck traffic or overheating in cruises.

i would recommend a fan iv never ever heard anything bad about them i mean whats the worse that can happen cooler engine?

I did a search in fan iv and could not find what you were making reference to. Is there something I should use to look for it on the net besides "fan iv"?

Do you have a heating problem? If so, fix the problem. While my TBird can get hotter if going real slow, my 54 with a 312 runs real cool with a four blade fan - the same with my street rod, a 48 Ford with a 302 and automatic. I hate the noise most electric fans make.
