I bought front end parts from Kanter for my 54. Did not need ball joints so I did not buy a "kit". All the parts fit correctly. I have bought from then since and am happy with them.
Did you have a front end shop do a examination of your front end? On my 54, that's the first thing that I did so I could pin point the problem areas rather that just replace everything. I didn't need ball joints, so I saved a bundle there because they are the most expensive of the front end parts. One thing about 54 to 56 (later?) ball joints. They are probably the most indestructible thing Ford ever made. Make sure you actually need them before replacing them.
My 56 TBird had the same thing. Ball joints were ok, bushings were shot. If the ball joints had any kind of care, they probably are ok.

I have talked to several folks who said the same thing about missing parts and not fitting properly. But, then on the other hand some say they are great. They seem to be the only ones around that sell kits and offer a life time warranty. I'm just looking for another source to compare . That might not be possible.

The kit I bought was for a 52 mainline,so it was a king pin suspension. The bushings were very sloppy and the rubber sheilds were rotten from the start. They took 6 months to send the actual king pins after several calls and lot of heart ache.I think the old worn out peices wre in better shape.

Heard a great one liner the other day, "We are 14 hours ahead, but 10 years behind!"
Just thought I would throw that one in.
