Hi,
Looking for some help deciphering the data plate from my 1956 Fairlane Town Sedan...here's what I've got:
serial #M6MT-162515
M=292 w/4bbl., 6=1956, M=Memphis, TN assembly plant, T=body series code, 162515= consecutive unit number
Body-73C= Town Sedan, Color-A=Black, Trim-L=gray random dot cloth/vinyl interior, 15H= August 15, 1955 assembly date, 255B=?????
Can anyone clue me in to what the last digits mean..."255B?"

According to my book, that would be your production code number to indicate the car was the 255th or maybe the 255,000 produced since it has a B behind for that year at the plant where it was made.
Claim to fame is the car was used as an extra in the movie Diner with Micky Rourke, Steve Gootenburg, Paul Riser and Kevin Bacon.
