Daniel, I have a teapot and manifold that I'm not going to use. I will either sell or loan the manifold for your testing. I think the choke is on the manifold. Just any ole teapot will not work on the SC. Others could clue you to the best teapot for modification for the SC. I think the one on my SC is a modified Lincoln. Sorry for the lack of details, I'm still in the learning curve on the SC Ys. Call me 540-622-3560 Front Royal,va.

Dan, John and I both run Teapots, Lincoln versions as they are bigger and very similar to the original F code carbs. BUT, for the street or to build something more practical when I don't have to use a stock carb, I'd use a blower carb from holley or Demon. Unblown a small edelbrock or Demon. The Teapots can be a bit cantankerous.

If this is just a project that you are using to educate yourself with, then by all means go for it. If it is an engine that you plan on using with the supercharger later on, then I would go with the B intake and a Demon blow through carb. You can spend more money on the old teapot than a new Demon will cost and have a modern high performance package as well. With that said, I have a 56 292 that I may rebuild someday and put a teapot on it just for the look as well as a two four intake that I have some WCFB's for that I would like to try.

Fellas, thanks for the responses. John - I would think that you are right about that one on the manifold. If that manifold does have a problem, it would show up when I ran the engine on a rebuilt teapot. When carb and maybe manifold are in doubt, I would be chasing the tuning like my kids' crazy cat tries to catch bugs and butterflies.  Glen - appreciate your offer, but I am thinking that fiddling with an adapter might be a cheaper solution for now. Maybe later on if I try to go with an original style setup for the blower I am tinkering with??? Reasons being: I would like to get that blower operational on the test stand at some point this millennium, er...year, and I would assume that running a modified teapot under the bonnet would be the way to go with a Mcculloch VS57. The original look would be there, but I know the functionality might be quirky. Frank and John - any suggestions on that one? I was going to use my B intake with an adapter for the teapot (that A manifold I have is for a 55 carb with the choke on the manifold - so I really wouldn't want to use that one - not only for appearance but also becuase the 3 teapot cores I have are all 56's. What do you "supercharged" guys run? teapots or later carbs? Glad I got on-line during my late lunch here at school! (sucking down an Angus burger and fries)

Dan: I started to suggest this earlier, then thought better of it. Sounds like Glen has the best solution for you. I was going to suggest putting that A manifold on and running the engine low on water and the water pump disconnected to test the teapot, but if there is a vacuum leak between the front runner and the water manifold, it would cause problems that might make you think it's the teapot when it is a vacuum leak.

Daniel, changing the manifold makes the most sense to me. I have a couple of the A intakes that I'll never use, if you want one you can have it for shipping cost.

Dan, It would seem possible to flip an adapter over and chamfer the holes from the opposite side. You might look at that thought.

For the meager few of you that have been following my posts about running the Y on an engine test stand...some ulterior motives have arisen. I asked a question recently about a 4 barrel teapot manifold that apparently was damaged somewhere between the coolant and intake ports, but had no way to verify the buyer's claims. Now that I have a test stand, this should be easy to do. To see the previous posts on this subject, click this link http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic29640-3-1.aspx?Highlight=teapot+manifold But, I would like to run my rebuilt teapot on the Y test stand first with a good manifold (teapot is my first rebuild in quite some time...picked it up at a swap meet, EZC 9510 List 1161) So, I would like to make sure that the teapot is in working order first on a known good manifold. I have the 55-56 small 2 barrel manifold with the three bolt setup (currently on the stand) - any one ever seen an adapter to put the teapot on that set up (I know, I know, who would ever do such a thing??? But I have seen some wild Flathead stuff from Speedway Motors.) I also have a good B intake. But are there any adapters out there that go in reverse? (Most of us want to put a later model 4 barrel on a teapot manifold, so quite a few of those adapters are out there, but I have not seen one that is reversible)... Any ideas, or should I just go with two unkown factors at one time, the teapot I just rebuilt and the "damaged" manifold?
