NewPunkRKR (12/14/2007) Maybe this was a bad idea... but... When I made my draft tube block off plate, I put a hole in it, got a grommet with a baffle and stuck the 90 degree PVC valve right in there. I ran a tube straight up past the fuel pump and into the PVC port on my Holley carb. Got rid of the smoke out of the oil fill so it seems to be working, and I don't appear to be sucking oil...Putting the PCV valve down at the crankcase breather hole is not something I’d whole heartedly recommend due to being in close proximity to a large amount of oil moving around. But if it’s not pulling oil into the PCV valve, then it would appear that you’re doing okay. I’d suggest pulling the valve and see if you’ve got oil on the end of it or within the hose and if you do, then consider moving the valve to a location not being saturated with as much oil.

scooterboy (11/15/2007) I couldn't get any of those four links to the old posts to work. I'm using Safari, if that makes a difference.It’s not your Safari but has to do with the old site no longer being available and the links will no longer connect to it. That’s too bad as there was a lot of information there and now it would appear that there’s going to be a lot of the topics that were talked about there now being rehashed again as a result.

I've been told that the fuel pump block off for a VW Beatle will fit to close up the breather hole. Some of them have a threaded boss built in them. I'd wondered about just putting a PCV valve in there but was concerned about oil slosh. Might be a simple way to add PCV. Chuck

hi guys, just a quick note to say thank you for the help, suggestions, and previous posts that helped me sort this out. havent tinkered with yblocks since 1959 when i ran a 312 with jahns 12 to l pistons , blower cam , g heads, and hedman headers in my 56 sedan. learning all over again. still have a new in the original box set of those pistons. might do me another motor , who knows?

Here's my home made elbow for all who care - bet there's a ready made set of parts somewhere- I just don't know where to find them! 


It's made out of a copper water plumbing "T", big flat washer for the bottom flange, silver solder, and various rubber pieces from who knows where. Need to get back working steadily on this thing - my wife says its becoming a "redneck" garage ornament.

I am putting a Blue Thunder/Demon on my bird and am seriously considering removal of the road draft. Could you post a pic of your PCV setup? It would be greatly appreciated.

The tapped port between the carbs would be a good place to hook up your PCV. You might double check that the port does intersect with both runners so you don’t get a ‘pulsing’ vacuum signal. I also ran a PCV valve with the 3X2 setup on my ’55. I used a hole saw on the valley pan at its back to accommodate a grommet that would hold a PCV valve and plumbed this to the common runner vacuum port that was already on the intake. I already had electric wipers on my ’55 so having a vacuum line specific to the windshield wipers was not an issue. To add to what everyone else has said, here’s some links to threads regarding the subject on the old forum. There is quite a bit of PCV info on the old forum if a search is ran. thanks guys for all the help. how about using the tapped port on the edelbrock manifold between the first two carbs. would that work?
