I finally sold off the Tbird style paxton VS57 bracket that I had. Timing cover and clearance issues abounded. I found an NOS 55 56 Ford passenger car bracket (with supports), spring pack, and idler arm to install on the 292 on the test stand. Would like to try to run a Mighty Demon blower carb.

Does anyone have any front/side view photos of the passenger car mount on our Y blocks? Just had a question about one of the supports for the bracket.

Daniel, I installed one of those once. Can't believe I don't have pics. There were 2 supports made of 5/8 X 3/16" flat bar that bolted to the back and extended to the front intake manifold bolts.

They had a 45 degree bend (more or less) where they bolted to the iron bracket and a slight bend to attach to the intake bolts.

Daniel, This is the only shot I found of my bracket. If you open up the hole on the drivers side to a vertical slot you can remove the bracket without taking off the water pump. In this shot the two straps John mentions are not installed. You can barely see a small hole on the bracket above the dipstick and just forward/below the oil filler tube. The flat straps go from this hole to the first intake bolt (one on each side) They have a bit more that a 45 deg twist but are easy enough to make. The blower case can be unbolted and "clocked" to line the outlet up to your carb box. Make sure the front mounting bolts go in the correct holes. They are different than the case bolts. You can usually see marks in the paint where the bracket ears rested. Also if you have to buy new ones make sure the mounting bolts are not too long. They will cause damage to the inside of the case. Moonshadow - when I get back to the garage this afternoon, I am going to hook the bracket up to the Y and see what we got. Where did you get your belt from - I am going to have to get one of those,,,,and it looks like a Throttle Body Injection or am I misidentying what's on that 55? 4 barrel intake?

The solenoid on the blower still works, so I would think there would be a way that I could hook up a mechanical switch to the linkage that would engage the solenoid and give me Hi boost - don't you? Craig at Paradise wheels told me to stay away from the vacuum switches, but did not know anything about hooking up something mechanically to the linkage on the intake. What kind of air cleaner assembly are you using? K&N?

That is a Pro-Jection. I never got around to hooking it up. Still new under the bench. I do use a K&N filter with a 3" inlet. I've since plumbed the filter to in front of the radiator for more air flow. I had my unit converted to a Paxton SN60 style and just run a single pulley for constant boost. I have several different size pullies for street/strip etc. They are very easy to change. The belt came from NAPA. Everything is in storage right now but I'll see if I can get the numbers for you. What did you find for a crank pulley? Chuck in NH

Thanks for the replies and all this helpful info! Right now, I have a pulley that has a power steering/accesory groove, then the blower belt on the end. Unfortunately, this is no longer good for my app, since I would have to space everything out to meet the exterior groove. The blower might not be so bad, but then the fan and/or pulley might get in the way.

I did notice today that I liked the vertical lineup much, much better on this passenger car bracket than the tbird bracket that I had.

I will probably try to get a hold of Craig again - he said he had a few more crank pulleys, but did not know their apps since they do not have part numbers. I will also need to get a bonnet for the carb. I am thinking about getting a Mighty Demon 650???

Then I would have to consider what fuel pump to run (couldn't I just run a hi flow electric with the Barry Grant Carb and not worry about fuel pressure?), how to hook up the switch for the solenoid, and get my distributor tuned correctly.

Sounds like fun to me - nothing like turning a good wrench!

Can you post a pic of the pulley? I may have an option for you. Frank make a real nice bonnet for the superchargers check the Rebop stuff on Johns site. I'm running a fuel pump from a Hi Performance 427 FE on mine. I also run a small inline electric pump to keep pressure up on hard runs. Not needed for normal driving though. Chuck in NH

You should check out the Y-Block supercharger kits available from Gord at rexrep@telusplanet.net for mounting bracket ideas. The VS57 and the SN series of Paxton superchargers share the same mounting and bracket dimensions.

Chuck here are some photos of the "repaired" pulley the way that I bought it. I need one this size with the accessory groove absent.

Noslo56 - I have seen that setup from Gord before on ebay or somewhere else online. It looks nice. something a little more vintage looking is what I am after right now...
