I don't use a lead sub in my 292, just run mid grade pump and backed the initial timing back to 6 degrees. I have been running it for two years with stock reground valves and seats. I've seen the stuff at Wal Mart, don't remember the brand, but never tried it. The only advantage that I see is if you are having a preignition problem, might help or not. With the price of a gal today, I can't see adding to the oil company profits. Unless you drive the vehicle hard and often, I don't think that you will have a problem, that being said the G heads that I have for my next project have stainless valves and hard seats. Alot of these engines were running in regular service years after lead was removed from gas.

They are not hardend. But depending on how often and far you drive you don't really need to change them. Occasional use wont hurt. Chuck

I have a 1964 ford f100 with a 292 in it. Anyways, are the valve seats in the 292 non-hardened? meaning leaded fuel only until i get either a pair with the hardened seats or have the heads rebuilt?
