I just received an interesting item on I bought on Ebay. Its an information booklet authored by the chief engine engineer at Ford in 1954.The book was published to give out at the SAE(Society of Automobile Engineers) convention in January 1954.This illustrated book explains the engineering features and the goals of the new 239 Y-block motor. The design of the Y-block actually started in 1946 with the aim of putting it in the 54 model year.I find it very interesting.Explains the workings of the valve rotators, lubrication system including full flow oil filter, the over and under intake manifold runners, and how its engineered for future higher compression etc.A real insight into what the engine guys at Ford were trying to accomplish.Only 13 pages but great pics and diagrams. The book was for others at the convention to provide wriitten responses to and I would guess suggestions.Item# on Ebay was 220484482435 if anyone wants to have a look.

Are you set up to run copies of the tech pages? I'm sure those of us interested in reading them would certainly make it worth your while. Can send PayPal $ to cover your mailing & printing costs/efforts/etc.

Thats something I could look into. How many hands are up as an expression of interest?Have a look at the item under that Ebay number.I will see what a run of reprints would cost.

Noticed the e bay ad refers to the 1955 engine, however the text appears to be for 1954. Read or heard somewhere that Ford actually wanted to introduce the engine in 1953 for the 50th anniversary of the company. But various development & production delays prevented that from happening... Unfortunately to get clear copies of material of that type is difficult. Then it has to be bound together somehow. Often they turn out dark or vague. But if you can get good copies I would be interested in buying one...

Hi Paul! The booklet is for the 1954 239 motor. As you know we never got that motor(OHV 239) here in Canada.I will show this booklet to a print guy I have dealt with before and see what he thinks about duping it.Let everyone know next week.
