Daniel,

it is funny that you bring that up tim's videos, I just stumbled on them today....AMAZING!  Such a wealth of info.

I checked out your link to your pictures, your engine looks and sounds great!  I would be SO proud if I get to the point of hearing that coming from my engine bay!

Nate,

I don't know if I have given you the link yet, but if you go to my photobucket page, you can see photos and videos of my parts car Y block running on a portable stand, and photos from what I started with to what I ended with. Take heart - good things happen! Cool

I HIGHLY sugggest that you get on Tim McMaster's website - it is very good, and the links to his Youtube videos will give you a lot of insight on how the motor is put together. (his links are always around his signature when he posts)

Looks like a great starting place Nate...I like you screen name...I am 6'6" also, assuming that's the meaning...

To clean up the dash, just clean, scuff and paint...

These guys can match factory color codes in an aerosol can with very good results:

Bill I hope your Aussie intution about my pleasant surprise proves accurate!  Your encouragement gives me hope!  In the best case scenario I'm hoping all that is standing in my way of installing a battery is a new brake system, some new tires, emptying the old gas, and changing the oil.

it would be so cool to be able to have this car running well enough to drive the 100 miles back up to my grandpa's to show him whie he is still around.  That is my dream.

Nate, i,ll bet you are in for pleasant supprise when you do turn that key!, i,ll never forget the old 55 sedan we had as a parts car, it was complete and rusted 12" all the way round, but would start easily , drive and everything worked inc the radio, it sure was a sleeper. Enjoy your refreshing sense of humour. regards bill.

Good Catch Rusty...although there is a battery in the car in the photos at the top of the thread those are old pics, it has been long removed...I'm still dreaming about the day when I have a reason to put a battery in this thing!Hehe  (I've actually been tempted just to see if all the lights work!)
