So eventually I'm going to need to clean out the fuel system.
Let's just assume the gas is 5 years old.
1) Everyone says I can start the engine by hanging a gas can from the hood and attaching it to the carb. It seems the fuel line to the carb is threaded hard line...anyone want to explain in detail the set up they use to run gas from a remote tank hanging on the hood to the carb?
2) Let's assume my engine runs and I want to use the real fuel system. What all do I need to do to get rid of the old gas? If I drain the old gas from tank (did I see a drain back there?) is that enough? do I have to worry about what little is sitting in the fuel lines? The fuel pump looks newer...maybe last time they started the car they put a new one on (~5 years ago?). I don't have an air compressor to blow any lines out. Any advice appreciated.
Maybe I just put new fuel in the tank...then crank the engine with the fuel line disconnected at the carb (And a bucket to catch old gas) and let it pump fresh gas up through the lines?
