My 57 and up cap and my Accel provided rotor will not fit right. I have an ACCEL points eliminator kit (#2020). Installed everything according spec. (had to enlarge the grommet hole a little for the new grommet and made sure that the flat portion was up so that the cap would fit right) The rotor fits on the shaft and seems to look right. The cap pops onto the distributor and looks right to. However, the shaft will only rotate to the next electrode inside the cap and then stop. :w00tBigGrino I need an ACCEL distributor cap to? Is there any fix for this without having to buy new parts, etc. etc.?

Try the stock rotor, if it turns then, has to be a problem with the rotor. The only suggestion that I would have with out trying another cap, is to file away some of the materal from the rotor contact. Trial and error unless you could figure away to measure the clearance. Sounds as if you may have to go with their cap though.

Dan,

Sounds like the rotor is too tall, It may be hitting the star wheel. I watched Hoosier grind one off (bottom)  and make it work at Expo this year.

BINGO!

Here is what the Hurricane told me...Tongue

"Daniel:

I have run across this twice, once on my race car, once on Robin Church's race car. The reluctor that fits on the distributor shaft sits high enough that the rotor bottoms out on it before it is fully on the shaft. Grind about 1/8" off the bottom of the rotor so that there is a little clearance between it and the reluctor when it is bottomed on the shaft. Then the cap will clear.

John"

And he's was right on. Problem solved!
