yeah the motor was a funny story too.. Seems a friend of the owners had it totally rebuilt then could never get it to run right, so the guy got frustrated and gave the motor away for free.. this guy started looking at it and realized it had the wrong distributor on it.. changed the dizzy and it ran like a top..

that's a 8EQ Lincoln.. that car was really neat to look at and the builder was a hoot to talk to.. he is a retired engineer and has built alot of really nice hot-rods but one day decided to see if he could build an entire hot-rod out of nothing but parts he already had and traded and barted stuff.. if he couldn't get it he just made it.. the only thing he said he spent money on was the normal safety oriented stuff like brakes and the like.. out of pocket cost he said was only $472 dollars.. just amazing.. he drives it all over as well..

Bill, the T sedan pictured above is running boxed 32 rails. Has never had a weight problem in 50 some years. And believe me it is driven! I don't think the weight would be any problem. Maybe some of the Merc guys can chime in with specifics. After seeing this T I was seriously thinking of putting a Lincoln in my 28 Chrysler but sanity returned. They are way too hard to find and the right speed equipment (as pictured ) is nearly impossible. Build the darn thing! I'll bet you will be the only one down under! Chuck in NH

I did build one of the Lincoln/Truck Ys (302) a few years back for a 1952 F-7 fire truck,  it was a parade vehicle that didn't see much use.  As best as I could tell, with my CSI expertise,  it had a leaky carb that over a period of time put enough gas in one cylinder to hydrolic it just a bit and bent a rod.  It was ran this way till the rod finally broke and put a hole in the side of the block.  Trying to find parts was not the easiest thing but on a whim I asked an old car guy that I've know since I was a kid and he had under a bench in his shop a rebuilt 317 Lincoln short block that he had bought in the early '70s from a shop that was going out of business just because it was there, he also had a flathead Cad V8 that he got at the same time, he sold it to me for what he paid $250.

I got the block into the shop, thinking it was a rebuild, and took it apart to clean and re-lube everything.  After all it had been sitting for 30+ years.  When I got it apart I found that everything in it was Std. and all the parts had FoMoCo stamped or cast into them. It just happened to be a factory NOS replacement engine. Long story short the engine worked fine after having to change the dizzy gear since the truck engine had a gear driven cam and the car engine used a chain.  Neat old engine just like the Ford Y but everything is bigger and the only thing that seems to interchange is the oilpump.

We have to realize these lincoln y,s are family and welcome them in for some interest, at 1st glance they look like a 292 Y etc but are just that much bigger, the heads have side by side intake ports and similar valve gear but nothing interchanges, i was thinking of putting this 332 industrial engine i have into my 30 A coupe with Cragar bellhousing and 4 spd toploader but i think just looks a bit heavy, i might wait till its finished and rethink it, i believe these were in big F700-800 trucks, fire trucks etc  and had sheilded plug wires and spark plugs with threaded tips so the braided lead would screw on, likewise had weird distributor to match, i will send some pics soon as i can get at them, best regards bill.

Cool Pixs!  I posted the original picture because I've always wanted a Model A with a Y in it, but now I'm thinkin' a Lincoln Y would be realy cool.   You don't see a lot of them around. (Model A with a '32 rad. would be fine with me)

I met this young fellow, Rich Debene, in Dearborn, MI last year after the Y-Block meet. Some of the pictures here date back to the 50's. His dad bought the car kept it pretty much the same. Now the kid has it and is very intent on keeping it original. Right down to the Y-Block Lincoln under the hood. He hopes to make the Shootout next year! Chuck
