Whatever I rewire, I start with the dash and then figure out what goes where and head in that direction.

Hey Stok;;   I did my 55 Bird about 3 years ago.  Used Harness from Ron Franics, it was great and they are very helpful if you run it a problem.  I mounted my fuse block in the trunk-- with a bad back I didn't want to fight trying to put it under the dash!!  Suggestions Take the seat out and the steering wheel off, just makes it a lot easier, also now is the time to convert to electric wipers, Newport enigeering, to me make the best, but that clip is a wh*&^%$e.  Hope this helps-- you can do it just take your time.   Good Luck and God Bless    Eddie

see that avatar? that's me on my back, inside my 57 in the middle of wiring it... kit from Councors Parts in NV; it can be done; depends, in part, on your back!  the kit I bought came with both a real schematic, as well as an illustration showing each wire and its origin and destination.  I just bought the main wiring harness (about $200) then made my own for the lights... very "doable" project, with enough time and patience... plus everything works.  go for it!

Thanks for your tips, I already have the sloppy looking wiring plus what starts out to be a green wire ends up being green,pink for 6 inches then red for 3 feet then.....plus I'll have a fuse block with the ability of adding circuits. Thanks again for your help as always THIS IS THE PLACE.

just make sure you know what your getting . As already said, there are many different kits available . I know for sure i wouldnt want a kit with all the same color wires and numbers on them to dissern where they go . Also wouldnt want wiring that was long and sloppy looking  

I wired my TBird this summer alone and I took about 2 full days . Never did it before. It was relatively easy. Wiring was easy to follow and had a toll free # in case of brain death. I would ask to see his work and talk to some of his customers that have had him wire their cars . Just so you would see for yourself. As long as he doesnt charge you an arm and a leg it should last for another 50+ years.

Not sure what you're looking for in the end, concourse or driver, but you might want to see his work first. There are several wiring kits you can buy that range in price from about $125 to several hundred dollars. I wired my 52 Pickup with original looking cloth covered wire, all original colors and connectors (looked and worked great) but then tore it all out to add a fuse panel and other circuits later. The "original" harness was a lot of money, and worth it, but when I modified the truck, it just didn't cut it. Also, if you want to add something electrical later, make sure to add the wire now. Seems like there's always something to add. Cars never seem to be "done".

I'm going to be having our '56 Victoria completely rewired in the next few days. NO power equipment, only cd player and flamethrower. I do not have patiance or knowledge or place to do it so am hiring it done. Any tips???? The guy said he does it from the battery cables back.
Seems to know what hes doing (he's done several) but thought I might be missing something and someone here might have a tip or two...hopefull won't have to worry about a fire as much after this. Thanks
