When you DO find a source for speedo gears, be aware the subject can get quite complicated. Aside from the myriad of teeth #s/take-off styles/material compositions/NOS vs. repro/differential ratios/etc.,etc., if you throw in a change to radial tires & the goal of achieving precise speedometer calibration, some serious math may be inevitable.

Aren't the speedo gears the same from 57 on up into the 70's? I think mine is a mustang piece? For some reason I couldn't get a definitive answer to the same question. Ended up taking my old gear to the parts store. (I use a 57 up cable with my AOD) Chuck in NH

Evidently dealers in different areas carry different parts. I bought a couple from concours, and then was told by a buddy at the local NAPA store that he could get them also. I'll have to ask him again and see if I can find the manufacturer. Forget Advance and Autozone,"what year is your car sir?"

The Ford speedo gears for the transmission end of the cable are of the same basic design from 1957 thru the mid Nineties.  You just need to know the number of teeth needed and if that particular number of teeth is compatible with the spiral gear on the transmission tail shaft.

Somewhere I read several years ago, that each tooth on the cable end of the gear is supposed to be 5mph?? I think thats the way it was. I know it wasn't the driven gear in the trans. itself.
