The harmonic balancer on my engine has slipped,it slipped back and was rubbing the front steady rest.i have another one but the engine was balanced with the one that has slipped.i think Ted had a write up on how to repair one but cant find it, or is there a company that can repair them.  Carl    Ohio

Dampers for the Y should be neutral or zero balanced so using the damper that was originally balanced with your engine is not necessary unless the balance shop did a no no and actually balanced the crankshaft through the damper.   Assuming the crankshaft was balanced to ‘zero’ before the damper was added to the rotating assembly, then simply rebalancing the repaired damper or another replacement damper after the fact will be fine.  If there is a considerable amount of drilling in the damper ring that has slipped, then there is a good chance that particular damper was part of the balance correction for the crankshaft and you would be prudent to continue using it after fixing it.

Thanks for the replys,Ted i talked to the man who balanced my engine and he said he didnt balance the crank shaft pulley so i will probably just use another one that i have.  Carl
