First, I really don't care what I own. They've all had good and bad stuff.



But last night watching Pass Time, an opportunity arose that I had to take advantage of. It was one run where 2 cars were running and the total et has to be estimated. The 2 cars were Camaros. Guess what. One is Ford powered. So my friend is there and I start ribbing him and say who do you think is going to win this one. Of course he goes with the Chevy powered one. Sure enough, the Ford powered Camaro won by almost a second. So then he goes into denial and starts saying both were Chevy powered. Crazy!!

To be fair, the Ford engine was much bigger than the Chevy and since everything else was nearly equal, it won as it should have. When they were gathering info about the cars, I thought it was clear which one would win, though it wasn't technically that kind of race.



Oh, so then he felt like he was being attacked and went off on another tangent saying that Chevy's been winning Nascar. I don't know if it's true. I don't follow it. But I then brought up the fact that they all use a Ford 9" and they wouldn't finish the race if it wasn't for that. Don't they even use Ford toploaders or some variation of it? Ah, fun at the expense of others!

I'm pretty sure the current Sprint cup cars use Jerico Transmissions,which are based on the Ford toploader. The rear axle is also a take off on the Ford 9-inch but probably supplied buy an after market manufacturer. As for the Chevy engine, it's surprisingly looks like a Ford,with it's front mount distributor and equally spaced exhaust/intake port spacing.

It amazes me how you constantly hear about how the small scrub has been in continuous production since 1955.. the lemmings actually believe it even though the current version resembles a Ford design more than the orginal.

i was talking to a friend of my dad's the other day and he is a big chevy guy.. he told me he wanted to put a 383 in his Corvette.. then he asked me what vehicles chevy put the 383 in so he could find one.. i tried not to laugh..

Maybe you should have told him Chrysler products from the '60s and '70s.  Convince him there was a strike at the chev engine plant and they bought engines from Chrysler during that time period.

I don't know if this has been mentioned here before, I guess I don't read everything, but you know all the scrub guys are using the new 4-7 swap cams that make them the same firing order as the Y-Block to get a few more HP.

First of all, I Love the title of this post and is a daily fact of life in my world. And the thing about hiding the motor trying to make it look like a Olds/Pontiac/ whatever, I just don't know why they do that in the first place. Just a FYI, have a local friend here that had a 39 Buick, all custom with a very tired 350 in it. So he bought a G.M. crate motor for it as a quick replacement, ah 7 motors later he finally got a good one. If I had to change my "new" motor 7 times I think I'd look for soemthing else to put in.
