I need your expertise....As you've probably noticed I'm looking for a 500 cfm 4bbl carb...my 600 cfm is too big for my engine.. The autolite 4100 V carburetor is for sale and I don't know for sure the cfm or the practicality of using it on my 30 over 272. Any help is really appreciated. Gord

As 2dr implied 1.08 size venturi is what you want if looking for a 4100. They arguably flow 480 cfm, and I think are a good choice in 292s or 312s. For a 272 maybe. 1.12 venturi 4100 will definitely not work well.

This is what his ad says... It is a 4100 4V Autolite carb with 1.08" venturi and 1-7/16" primary and secondary bores. The CFM rating is listed as 480 CFM. Hopefully my engine will be done before the 25th so I can put it in over the holidays.. Thanks for the tips ..

Gordie, this is the a very simple carb and in my opinion the easiest to rebuild. Not alot of tuneabilty but will work well on a Y. This is the same carb that was used on the early 289 sbf's. Be sure to use some type of spacer to insulate the carb from the manifold heat. Make sure that the throttle shafts are not worn as this can be a source of vaccume leaks.
