If you’re going to run two radiator caps, then the lower placed one should be a higher pressure rating than the upper one.  You want the one on top doing all the relieving.  The 1960 thru 1962 Ford cars equipped with Y’s used the expansion tanks.

I think you should be able to Greg as long as you have enough hood clearance. I know the reason they were used to begin with was because of the the radiators being so low in the cars, with the tank being placed a little higher up to eliminate any air pockets through gavity (air) pushing up to the highest point. I think it would look pretty cool being polished up,  I still have one laying around too that bolts directly to the thermostat housing for a F.E. powered car. I do recall seeing a few 61/62 car powered Y's with these put in. Don't know if it was factory or not.

The 64 I parted out for my Uni had a new radiator - it's in the Uni of course. I have an expansion tank for a Y block car - can I use it with the truck radiator? Thought it might be cool in there polished. It will also be sort of in the way when I work on it though too - worth it?
