Be careful when you are torqueing down the rockershaft stands. There is a common spec source that gives a higher torque than needed and has resulted in the wringing off of some bolts. I think the bolts are only 5/16ths, so they can't take too much! Good Luck!

You are not a "cheapskate".Its expensive as you know to restore any old car.If you can find a less expensive way to fix something than buying new ,nothing wrong with that.If you post a "wanted" in the classifieds I am sure someone has extras of what you are looking for.If you need new bare shafts Tee-Bird.com has them for around $25.00 each.My 56(Nov 55 built) has the same adjusters as yours with the lock nuts.

Im slowly restoring a 55 Tbird that my father bought in 1974.

I recently had the heads gone through and did a clean and inspection on my rocker arm assemblys.

I have one rocker arm that that somone rethreaded years ago where someone must have buggered up the threads.  5 of the adjusters have some threads that craked off where the jamb nut holds them, but still "work".

Rocker arm to shaft play is minimal, My thought is replace the shafts and I will be more than good to go.

Im new to finding parts for old cars and am having a hell of a time locating a place where I can buy one EAN rocker arm and 5 of the jamb nut style adjusters. Any thoughts?

I dont mean to be a cheapskate but my goal is to get my 55 and 66 birds running as well as my model A before I get crazy with engine builds and such.  Too many cars too little cash.

Anyhow, need advice on how to proceed.  Will the newer style self locking adjusters work in the EAN rockers?  Can I buy the jamb nut style somewhere?  Where to get 1 rocker?

Thanks for any input Smile
