Thank you guys so much. I sure apologise, as I somehow forgot to include the "M" after the 9510. I should have written ECZ 9510-M. I think I've got CRAFT. Comes with old age

Best regards

Jim

OK, Here's the numbers on the carbs: ECZ-9510  List #1161-2.

The 1161-2 carb will have a ECZ-9510-M part number at the back of  the carb or ECZ-M on the tag.  This particular carb (according to my literature) is listed as having the sea level to 5000’ jetting as #50 for the primaries and #73 for the secondaries.  For 5,000’ to 10,000’ the primary jets reduce to #49 and to #63 for the secondaries.  The jetting on this particular carb does not differentiate between standard and automatic transmissions and this carb is also listed as being used on both 292 & 312 engines in 1956.

Mark.  Do these jetting numbers agree with your literature assuming the carb is a ECZ-M?

Jim.  As far as the power valve goes, you’re likely going to be stuck with what comes in the carb rebuild kit.  Where the power valve needs to open a little sooner, drawing 2 or 3 of the pv spring coils together with a pair of staples can get you there but it’s trial and error doing it this way.  The Ford parts book actually lists a variety of power valves for the different Holley 4000 applications but no specifications or rates for these are given.

OK, Here's the numbers on the carbs: ECZ-9510  List #1161-2.

My goal is to make sure that I have a correct starting point, as I don't know the history of the carbs I have.  Needs are primary mains, secondarys and power valve.

Thanks for any help

Regards

Jim

Almost forgot. My carb listing says this carb came off a 56 312 engine

The list number at the back of the carb is necessary but so is the engine size and transmission just in case the carb is no longer original to the engine.  For the ’56 Y’s equipped with Teapots, the automatics used a #50 jet in the primaries while the standard transmission equipped vehicles used a #49 primary jet.  If the engine was going to be operated between 5,000 & 10,000 feet then the jetting would decrease by 1 number.

that's interesting, wonder why a standard transmission would be leaner. They were more likely to be "lugged" at low RPM, but that wouldn't be helped by the main jet size.
