Do these various different sets of belts have the "Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards" tags on them? There are places in the world where this is something that gets checked by tech inspectors etc.

I havent seen any that have that tag, at least not with the "correct" aircraft buckles.  most likely because they have no control over where/how installed, Id guess.

True, generally in Western Australia, to license an imported car [if the vehicle is originally fitted with seatbelts] they must be fitted with "Australian standard" belts.. ?? Why..? our standards higher, are we heavier, shaped different or is it that we are upside down..?

I wont license that car with them , I'll fit them after.

I got front and rear sets from andover restraints.  They show up on google.  They have the OE style aircraft buckles, and also the mounting eyes for the floor.  Make sure you get the right mounting location for the fron seat ones.  They do take up some foot space for back passengers.  Also, make sure you dont put them too close together, as you wont be able to use a rear floor mat if they are in the wrong places.

I *think* the ones I got wwere the 75" ones for front, 60" for rear....

Also, make sure you get the backing plates for mounting.  Otherwise its just a big washer to keep them from pulling through the floor if you get in a wreck...

They should work OK.I purchased mine on Ebay but they have the old style catch where you pass the end through the catch and it holds it in place like the old airplane ones.I used 60 inch front and rear.I purchased Gr8 nuts and bolts and used a large thick reinforcing washer under the floor. Not as good as the new cars but safer than no belts at all.

Is something like this ok, will they fit?

http://www.speedycarparts.com/sku/Ford_Mainline_Replacement_Seat-Belt_1952_1956_US-SBELT-2.html?srccode=cii_16079562&cpncode=17-46823418-2
