Will 312 heads bolt directly onto a 292?  I have a 1960 F100.  I was wondering what I need to do about the heads.  I was just going to get a valve job done on my heads but was unsure if I could get larger valves installed in mine or if it would be better to purchase 312 heads and have them reworked.

With few exceptions, there isn't really a 312 head. So don't let clever advertising fool you into paying more if you do buy a set. Do you know which heads you have? You may already have desirable castings. Oh , and yes "312" heads will bolt to your 292.

This will show you where to find the numbers: http://www.ford-y-block.com/cylinderheadchart.htm
