Back in the early 60s, when I was a no-nothing teenage "pump-jockey", the older scrub guys who hung around the gas station often made rude Ford jokes (the "fix-or-repair-daily" cliche was common). Out of frustration, and with no inherent wit, I blurted out that I had brought my Chevy tools along (dustpan & broom). To my astonishment, they all became quiet and looked down. I had apparently hit a nerve.

Daniel, i like that answer! Of course those guys forgot that the real explanation was First On Race Day! My often used remark when around those orange colored engines is" Where,s the chain?". Then they ask what chain? and i reply" thats attached to the boat! ".

When I first saw television almost 60 years ago, other brands were always referred to as brand X in commercials. Now commercials mention the brand by name and I think the commercials are more effective. I don't see anything wrong with mention of other makes. I don't think any of us would be here if we didn't have a fascination with y-blocks. However, anyone who has a funny acronym, lets hear it. I'm always in the mood for a laugh.
