Hi Guys,



I'm looking at a parts car for a conversion from three on the tree to Fordomatic. The car I'm looking at has every thing I need to do the conversion except for the driveshaft. The two cars are 1955 Townsedans. Does anyone know where I might find a driveshaft to fit the Fordomatic? If these cars are like others, the shaft is a different length from straight to automatic anda different yoke. Any help would be appreciated.

Its your car and you do what pleases you, but if I was going to make the kind of swap you are doing I would go with a C4. Much better trans in my opinion.

Every 55 or 56 Ford passenger car I have dealt with (unless it had the station wagon rear end) was exactly the same length on trans and on driveshaft. I believe the wagons had just slightly longer yokes, and that was due to the different rear end...

If my memory is correct (???) the transmissioons arer the same length also.  Should be a bolt in.

Manual and auto used the same yoke in 55 except for the police interceptor. If the drive shaft is not the correct length, take it to a drive shaft shop and have it lengthened or shortened.
